Congratulations!
The Indian Student Association at UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND extends a warm welcome to our visitors.
We are a non-profit student organization serving the Indian community at Rhode Island. Our common goal is to promote Indian culture and diversity in and outside URI, and to provide a platform for interaction between all students of Indian and foreign origin and sharing the cultural heritage of India.
URI Indian Student Association is one of the most active international student organizations on campus. We are actively involved in organizing cultural and social events on campus throughout the year. Our purpose is to provide an opportunity for Indian students to interact and share the joy of the culture and heritage, and to help new students coming from India. ISA serves to promote the awareness of cultural diversity on campus by organizing cultural and social events on campus. Throughout the year, ISA conducts several events including DIWALI Nite, Independence Day festivities, apart from screening Indian movies and taking part in international events on campus.

The UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND is located in Kingston, a small village about 30 miles south of Providence. Kingston was originally known as "Little Rest," because of its use by soldiers as a resting place during the Indian wars. The village retains its colonial New England flavor, with many buildings dating back to the 1700s.
Origin of Name: When Dutch
explorer Adrian block discovered an island with red clay shores, he named it Roodt Eylandt, meaning "red island."
Official Name:State of Rhode Island and Provindence Plantations
Nicknames:Little Rhody, Smallest State, Plantation State (for its official name), Ocean State
Capital:Providence
Some of the finest beaches in New England are within ten miles of the University. Narragansett Bay provides ample opportunities for swimming, sailing, skin diving, and fishing. South County also offers much unspoiled wilderness for hiking, canoeing, and horseback riding. Because southern Rhode Island has a large resort community, one of its most active times socially and culturally is summer, when the University and the neighboring communities play host to summer theater, art workshops, festivals, fairs, and clam bakes.
