Education:

Ph.D. Brown University, Electrical Sciences (minors in physics and materials sciences)
M.S. Brown University, Electrical Sciences (minors in physics and materials sciences)
B.S. Carnegie Mellon University, Physics

Research Interests:

  • Meta-materials; and in particular those aspects of meta-materials that deal with negative index of refraction and surface plasmon phenomena.
  • Applications of material analysis that are useful as legal evidence (forensic science)
  • Methods of preparing, analyzing and applying group-III nitrides (GaN, AlN and InN) and their alloys (InGaN, AlGaN, etc.) particularly for applications of IR and UV detector arrays.
  • High temperature sensors based on semiconductors and ceramic composites. (InSnOx, ZnO, NiCoCrAlY, etc.)

Other Professional Interests:

  • The training of students to be competent, inquisitive scientists and engineers who will appreciate the joys of learning and understand throughout their professional lives.
