Photos for Department (196H x 960W)

Students

The Chemical Engineering program at URI is open to undergraduate students and to graduate students pursuing either an M.S. or a Ph.D. degree.

The department offers degrees in both Chemical Engineering and in Chemical and Ocean Engineering. Each undergraduate program can also include international study in German, French, or Spanish.

Each undergraduate class typically numbers between 10 and 25 students. Fluctuations within this range run parallel to national enrollment trends in Chemical Engineering. This size ensures that each student can experience direct interactions with the faculty. In certain ways this allows the department to provide a private school style of education at a public school price.

Our undergraduates are attracted to URI from within Rhode Island, New England, the northeastern US, and across the country. A few undergraduate photos are available via our web pages.

Many Chemical Engineering students win awards and scholarships.

  • Student awards, 2005
  • Student awards, 2006
  • Student awards, 2007
  • Student awards, 2008

For information about some of the top-ranked 2006 Chemical engineering graduates, see the URI press releases about Leah Octavio and Virginia A. Sorrell.

Our graduate students come from the state, regional, and international communities. If you would like to talk with a student from a particular region, contact us and we can try to arrange it.
