College of Engineering
Department of Chemical Engineering

Biology Track in Chemical Engineering

The biology track was first introduced in 2005-2006. Students enrolled in this curriculum follow a program similar to the traditional chemical engineering curriculum, but with biology and biochemistry courses replacing some of the other technical courses.

This page lists the original curriculum that was specified for the Chemical Engineering biology track. The approved changes (March 29, 2007) led to the curriculum listed on the main curriculum page.

Here is a summary of the changes:

sophomore year, fall: Don't take BIO 102 or 121

sophomore year, spring: Add taking BIO 341. Don't take BCH 311.

junior year, fall: Add taking BCH 311. Don't take MIC 211.

junior year, spring: Add taking MIC 211 and BIO 352. Don't take the biochemistry or organic lab. Exchange the math elective for a gen ed.

senior year, spring: Don't take BIO 352. Continue taking BIO 437. Don't take ELE 220. Add a math elective and take one fewer gen ed (see junior year, spring).
