Dear ChE 212 students,
I remembered today that I forgot to add a psychrometric chart problem to the homework for Tuesday, so one is included here. The problem comes from the 2005 final exam.
* Use the psychrometric chart to answer these questions. All parts correspond to 10 g of water dispersed into 1 kg of air.
(a) If the temperature is 29 C, what is the relative humidity?
(b) The mixture is cooled at constant composition until the first water drops are about to form. What is the corresponding temperature? (i.e. how cool does the mixture become at this point?)
(c) How much heat was removed in part (b)?
Your textbook contains a psychrometric chart, in addition to the copy that was distributed in class.
Enjoy the weekend, and I'll see everyone on Tuesday.
