Dear ChE 313 students,
You may have heard through the press about the break-in to the ri.gov web site. Below is additional information that clarifies that meal plan purchases probably haven't led to hackers getting your credit card info.

State website security breach
Several inquiries have been made regarding the security breach of the state website and online deposits to the University's Ram Account by students and their parents.
As reported in the press, hackers broke into www.RI.gov on Dec. 28, 2005 and stole about 4,000 full credit card numbers from individuals who transacted business on the website between December 31, 2004 and March 8, 2005
The online Ram Account deposit program did not go into effect until May 2005.
After March 2005, hackers were only able to retrieve partial credit card numbers which would have been useless. No other information was retrieved by the hackers.
Students or parents who made deposits to their Ram Accounts were not affected by the security breach.
