Hi again,

I found that activity is buried in chapter 7 of Hiemenz and Lodge. This relationship

ln a_s = (\mu_s - \mu_s^0) / RT

appears as equation 7.4.3, along with the relationship to activity coefficient and concentration. The subsequent equations simplify the terms for analyzing osmotic pressure.

We'll be coming back to osmotic pressure in the characterization section of the course.
