Dear ChE 530 students,
As we've discussed a few times in class and as listed on the syllabus, the midterm will occur sometime during this coming week.
The midterm will not occur during class. Our class will be a normal lecture period.
Instead, I'd like each of you to decide on some other time when you'd like to take the midterm. I plan on having the exam ready by early Monday afternoon, and then you can take the exam at most times during the day, during the evening, or even on the following weekend.
You'll need to set aside 90 minutes for the exam. If it is during a time I'm available on campus (10am or later), then I'll give you the exam, we can find a place for you to work on it, and you bring it back to me when you are finished (within the 90 min). If your time is in the evening or the weekend of March 14-15, then we'll make an arrangement for me to email you the exam. You'll then need to scan your exam and send it to me by email; you'll also have to get me the paper copy. (I'd rather grade the paper copy.)
Please send me your preferred time before we meet for class on Wednesday. If several of you want to take the exam at the same time, that's fine with me.
The midterm will be open book and open notes. Some of you have been working from different books; in that case you can use that book instead.
I'll send a separate email that discusses possible topics for the midterm.
Have a good remainder of the weekend.
Prof. Greenfield
