PCs in 203A have usb ports on the side of the monitor PCs in 203 have usb extension cables near keyboards use S: drive, networked to server as My Documents available from all PCs in ECC available from home via ftp upload/download SSH secure file transfer (ftp) and shell client (terminal) software available from ECC website Printing ECC has several printers including a color laser printer and a plotter No charge for printing Get credits each semester (not cumulative), use 1 per page printed get 200 credits for black&White printing get 30 credits for color printing get 0 credits for plotting, it is by request only Credit box pops up after every print request, shows remaining credits Microsoft Office PCs in 203A and 212 running Microsoft Windows XP and Office 2007 PCs in 203 and 203B running Microsoft Windows 2000 and Office 2003 File formats for Office 2003 and Office 2007 are NOT compatible (doc vs. docx, xls vs. xlsx) Files created in 2003 can be read by 2007, files created in 2007 must be saved as 2003 if they are to be read by 2003 Laptops Table areas for personal laptop use network cords and ports are available wireless network is available currently not URI, general unsecured network ECC Website access from www.egr.uri.edu/ecc mostly up to date! information on policies, schedules, hardware, software, accounts, email, printing, networking, downloads, file storage, server access and virus info Student Operator Jobs Always looking for students to hire If interested, see me the first week of the semester Discovery Center Update Rooms 203C & E are being combined into one large high tech classroom. Construction was scheduled to start in August(!) Room was scheduled to open in November(!) Will have 30 dual monitor student PCs, Instructor PC with tablet monitors, 8 large screen wall monitors, 2 projectors, a color printer. Software will allow the instructor in interact with and project any of the student PCs. Wall monitors can be used as projection devices or for digital signage. Room will be used for EGR105 & 106, plus other classes, and open for general use during the evenings.
