Printing

The ECC does not charge for printing in Kirk 203. However, each user is given the following print quota each semester. After each print job is submitted, a pop up box tells you how many credits you have left.

Credit Allocations, as of Fall 2007:
     Black & White printing: 200 credits
     Color laser printing: 30 credits
     Plotting: 0 credits (plotting is by request only)

Be careful with print submissions, especially when printing web pages. Printing specific pages or selections only will help reduce the number of pages printed.

If you have problems getting files to print, see the ECC operator for assistance and to have your quota adjusted accordingly.

Printing .pdf files from a web browser

When you display a .pdf file within a web browser, you get a second Adobe Acrobat menu bar. To print the .pdf file, you must use the printer icon on that menu bar. If you use the browser file>print menu, the file appears to print, but never actually does.

Printing from your laptop

To print to an ECC printer from your laptop (either over the wireless network or while using a cable for networking):

Use Start, then Run, then enter \\pele.egr.uri.edu
Login with your username and password
pick Start, Settings, Printers & Faxes (windows 2000)
or Start, Printers & Faxes (windows xp)
pick Printers & Faxes again
right-click on the desired printer, pick Connect
the printer driver will be installed for you if necessary.
