ISE 444- Assembly and Automation Handling

Types and economics of automatic assembly systems. Analyses of automatic feeding and orienting techniques for small parts. Application of robots in assembly. Economics of assembly systems for printed circuit boards.

ABET Course Description

  • Boothroyd, G.,"Assembly Automation and Product Design", 2 nd Edition, CRC Press, 2005.

Prerequisites: MCE 263 and ISE 240 or 340.

Course Objectives:

Students completing this course will have:

  • An understanding of the mechanics of automatic assembly equipment.
  • An understanding of the economics of automatic assembly systems and the relationship to product specifications
  • Experience of undertaking a design study of an automatic assembly system for a small product
  • Experience of presenting the results of an in-depth design study orally and in written form.
