Summary

Dr. Wang, born and raised in Taiwan, came to the US in 1984 to pursue advanced studies at the University of Iowa. He received both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University. Prior to joining URI in 1995, he was a faculty member at California State University at Fresno and Georgia Southern University.

Since 1989, he has taught most industrial engineering courses and has served the universities and the engineering community in various capacities. Dr. Wang has expertise in engineering experiment design, human factors in transportation, quality and reliability engineering, computer-integrated manufacturing, and simulation modeling. Since joining the university in 1995, he has conducted many funded research in the above-mentioned areas and published many articles in technical journals and books. His recent research efforts in human factors aspects of transportation, supported by RIDOT, URITC, and NETC, have gained national recognitions.

He is a certified Quality Engineer, a senior member of ASQ (American Society for Quality), SME (Society for Manufacturing Engineers), IIE (Inst. of Industrial Engineers), and a member of TRB (Transportation Research Board), and AAUP (American Association of University Professors).
