Locations: Bessemer, AL; North Augusta, SC; Somerset, PA; Conroe, TX
Position: Industrial Engineer
Description: This individual will be responsible for maximizing productivity, quality and service throughout the Distribution Center by utilizing engineering techniques in the area of work layout, work measurement, and methods development.  Position will also manage a variety of projects that may include but not limited to analysis, design, and implementation of capacity and process improvement projects including material handling equipment and technology. This person will need to:

  • Build effective working relationships with all DC employees and internal and external customers.
  • Establish partnership with Corporate Logistics and other field industrial engineers to accomplish initiatives and share best practices.
  • Demonstrate proven written and verbal communication skills in the execution of daily correspondence and methods documentation.
  • Display teamwork abilities and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Analyze methods and procedures to ascertain the most efficient way to perform all warehouse tasks.
  • Consult with the responsible department supervisors to establish an agreement that the proposed changes are practical; utilize cost reduction techniques and human factors engineering.
  • Develop and maintain labor standards.
  • Evaluate new or improved operating methods, technology, and equipment.
  • Adjust standards, procedures, and layouts as needed to reflect changes in business requirements, policy and procedure.
  • Assist DC Management and Corporate Logistics on special projects by conducting feasibility studies.
  • Analyze and maintain reporting for DC performance metrics.
  • Participate in DC capital budget planning and management. Prepare justification for requested expenditures.
  • Lead and maintain ISO program and certification processes for the DC.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize item picking locations for improved productivity and store service.
  • Responsible for acting as project manager on implementation of special project work. 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Demonstrates ability to carry out industrial engineering assignments of a broad nature while exercising considerable judgment and originality.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiar with economic evaluation and justification.
  • Experience in equipment or technology evaluation.
  • Knowledge of MOST or other work standards development tools.
  • Knowledge of distribution operating systems.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks with confidence.
  • Strong PC skills, (Microsoft Office), AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering preferred. Mechanical Engineering or Logistics degrees considered.
  • Must have 1 to 3 years engineering experience and or education equivalent.
