Job Definition: A BDI Outside Sales Representative is responsible for the successful development and growth of the customer base in a given sales region by establishing new customers and actively servicing existing customers.
Responsibilities:

Responsible for developing new and maintaining/actively servicing existing BDI customers assigned to the Groton sales market through the performance of various duties including, but not limited to, cold calls, target development, product quotes, order deliveries, solution selling, and problem resolution.

Expected to capture new business opportunities both within and without Groton customers through the use of numerous strategies to include, but not limited to, product introduction, account targeting, and the sales and marketing of the complete BDI product offering.

Will identify, and actively pursue, new business opportunities to expand the current customer base by working with the Branch Manager and/or Regional Manager in developing sales strategies and new account targeting.

Expected to work closely with suppliers to market and sell new and current products.

Responsible for working within the branch when necessary (i.e. filling in for an inside sales representative on vacation, or sick, etc.)

Moderate travel is part of the job, with over night stays at a minimum early on.
Education & Experience : College Degree in Business or equivalent preferred; 3-5 years experience in an Industrial Distribution sales environment (i.e. Power Generation Sales experience a real plus) or 5-7 years experience as an Engineer or Technician preferred; having solid communication and presentation skills is of interest (ie Microsoft Office Suite, Access. etc); individual must be highly self-motivated with the ability to motivate others; a high degree of mechanical aptitude along with the ability to organize and multi-task, also a plus; strong product knowledge of bearings, power transmission, fluid power, motion control, and material handling is of definite interest.
