Industrial and Systems Engineering Graduate Program: Master of Science
Program Objectives
The program objectives for the M.S. (Systems Engineering) program at the University of Rhode Island are the following:
- Understanding of the application of methods to increase the competitiveness of products and processes
- Understanding of the relationship between product design decisions and the development of competitive products, through reduced costs and improved manufacturing efficiency.
- Understanding of the systems approach to systems and industrial engineering and an ability to apply systems thinking to a broad range of industries including manufacturing, transportation, and service sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in selected topics in manufacturing processes and manufacturing materials, manufacturing systems engineering, and computer applications related to manufacturing systems.
- The ability to carry out an independent research study in a selected area of manufacturing systems engineering or demonstration of knowledge of a broad range of manufacturing systems engineering related topics
- Advanced proficiency in student selected topics in manufacturing systems engineering, industrial engineering and related disciplines.
