The URI College of Engineering Advisory Council is a select group of business, community and technology leaders who play an important role in shaping the research and academic direction of the College of Engineering. The Engineering Advisory Council fosters direct collaboration and communications between industry and the College of Engineering, ensuring the ongoing development of the College and the achievement of its goals.
Council membership is extremely privileged. Council members are recommended by faculty or alumni and are appointed by the Dean to serve a three-year term. The council meets at least twice a year to advise the Dean on all matters that concern accreditation of the College’s undergraduate degree programs, professional development opportunities for the faculty, summer employment for students, and the feasibility of establishing new curricula. The council also assists the College in its efforts to attract, recruit, and retain highly qualified students, especially women and minorities, and assists in determining and pursuing the mission and vision of the College and development and implementation of the strategic plan.
“We are deeply grateful to the members of the Advisory Council for their dedication and expertise,” said Dean Bahram Nassersharif. “Working toward the common goal to strengthen the College, this unique collaboration between faculty and industry greatly furthers our efforts to achieve the highest standards of excellence in our faculty, programs and research.”
