Engineering Living Learning Community
New for Fall 2007

This fall, for the first time, the first 130 engineering freshman will be placed in the same Engineering Living Learning Community (LLC).  The LLC is a wonderful opportunity to promote the development of freshman engineering study groups.

The LLC has not been assigned at this time but will be either in Tucker or Merrow Hall.  Both dormitories are newly renovated and are centrally located on campus next to the new Hope dining hall.  Engineering freshman will be accepted to the LLC on a first come first served basis.

We are developing a year long program for freshman, to be typically offered in the evening at the LLC.  The program listing includes:

  1. Faculty, alumni and/or student roundtable discussions in each engineering discipline including Biomedical, Chemical, Computer, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, and Ocean.
  2. Meetings with student professional engineering associations.
  3. Pre-test tutoring conducted by upper class engineering students
  4. Pre-registration advising

The program also will include freshman field trips to local engineering companies.

If you are not placed in the LLC, do not worry.  All engineering freshman, whether you live in the LLC or not, will be afforded the same opportunity to participate in all programs.

If you have any questions, please contact me.
