The College of Engineering offers student internships at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI and other detachments of NUWC. Earning while learning provides both educational and financial opportunities.

In 1984, the University of Rhode Island was awarded the first student services contract. The contract authorized hiring students from institutions of higher learning. They will provide technical and analytical support to engineers and scientists at both research and development laboratories at NUWC. Hands-on training and learning offer a unique experience to undergraduate and graduate students.
